Water, Fire and Mold Work in Monterey
Ed's Construction Services works throughout Monterey, from the older blocks of New Monterey and Old Town down to Del Monte Beach and out through Skyline Forest and Casanova Oak Knoll. We handle the damage — the water, the smoke, the mold — and we handle the rebuild that follows, all on one California contractor's licence. Everardo Mendoza runs the jobs and picks up the phone himself at (831) 247-3672, so you're talking to the person who'll actually be on the job.
What makes Monterey homes different
Monterey isn't a place you can treat like a generic subdivision. A lot of the housing stock up in New Monterey and Monterey Vista is older wood-frame construction, redwood and stucco, built on the hillsides above the bay, and many of those homes sit over crawl spaces rather than basements. That crawl space is usually where the trouble starts. This close to the water, the marine layer keeps things damp for a good part of the day, and salt air doesn't do wood or fasteners any favors. A crawl space that never fully dries out is exactly where mold gets comfortable, and it can be quietly working on your subfloor and joists long before you smell anything upstairs.
The rain here isn't snow-and-freeze — it's the winter atmospheric-river storms that come through and dump water faster than the ground and drains can take it. On a Monterey hillside lot that means runoff finding its way under the house, and on the flatter ground near Del Monte Beach and Oak Grove it means standing water that has to be pulled out before it wicks into framing and flooring. Burst pipes are their own thing: older homes with older plumbing, and a cold snap or an aging line lets go while you're at work. Whatever the cause, the fix has to respect how these houses are actually built — you can't dry a redwood-framed crawl-space home the way you'd dry a slab tract house inland.
Permits and, in some pockets, HOA or design-review rules can shape a rebuild here too, especially in the older and more established neighborhoods. We plan the reconstruction with that in mind rather than tearing into finishes and figuring it out later.

Local, reliable, and nearby
Monterey is our backyard. We know the drive down through the Peninsula, we know the difference between a hillside lot above Cannery Row and a flat one near the Del Monte Shopping Center, and we know the older housing near Colton Hall and Monterey Peninsula College asks for a careful hand. The reason people call us is simple: one licence covers both the damage work and the rebuild, so once the drying equipment comes out, you're not handed off to some second builder who has to learn your house from scratch. The same crew that dried your crawl space is the crew that puts your floors and drywall back.
If you've got water where it shouldn't be, smoke damage, or mold showing up in a Monterey crawl space, call Everardo directly at (831) 247-3672. He'll tell you straight what he sees and what it'll take to make it right.
